What are Segregated Funds?
Segregated funds are insurance contracts that offer an alternative to mutual funds. Professional managers make
investment decisions on behalf of the client, buying and selling investments such as money market investments, bonds and
stocks.
Why should you choose a Segregated Funds?

Maturity Benefit Guarantee - A minimum of 75% of deposits, less any withdrawals, is
guaranteed at maturity. Maturity must be at least 10 years from the date of deposit. Some seg funds offer up to
100% guarantee at maturity. |
| -> |
Death Benefit Guarantee - At death, a minimum of 75% of deposits, less any withdrawals, are
guaranteed. Some seg funds offer up to 100% guarantee at death. |
| -> |
Potential for Protection from Creditors - Under certain circumstances, amounts invested in seg funds
may be protected from creditors. |
| -> |
Probate Bypass - By naming a beneficiary you may be able to bypass the costs and delays inherent in
probate by having your assets in seg funds. |
Protection for your capital
Segregated funds get their name from the fact that their holdings are kept separate from the insurance
company's assets. Unlike mutual funds, seg funds are life insurance contracts that offer protection on your
money.

| Workbook Example -> Segregated Funds
Segregated funds guarantee 75% of your net deposits on the contract maturity
date provided the funds have been invested for at least ten years. In the case of death, 100%
of your net deposits are guaranteed. |

 |
If you withdraw some or all of your investment before the holding period is up, the guarantee doesn't apply. So you
can lose money if the market falls and withdraw your money early. However, if you need the growth potential available
from mutual funds, but also want some protection for your capital, seg funds may be suitable for you.
Are Segregated Funds right for you?
Deciding if Segregated Funds are right for you will depend on your objectives, the length of time you plan to
invest and your risk tolerance. Entrepreneurs, business owners and people whose work exposes them to professional or
personal liability may wish to take advantage of this investment opportunity.
